the beat generation (1959)

… “its chief interest is in preserving its grotesque travesty of that cultural phenomenon called the Beats – a travesty that has become more or less the official line when the beats are remembered at all.” – from the review by bmcav at IMDb. Judging from the following excerpt, featuring a poetry reading by Maila Nurmi a.k.a. Vampira, that seems pretty much acurate. It gets less bad in the last lines. It’s also interesting to see Maila out of her Vampira’s character, but not very abonatory.
